Dr. Atla Bhagya Lakshmi, M.B.B.S., M.D. (Pathology)from Andhra Medical College, M.B.A. (Hospital Administration)from Andhra University , is currently serving as the I/C Principal of NRI Institute of Medical Sciences (NRIIMS) with effect from 13th September 2025 and as Professor & Head, Department of Pathology.
She has an illustrious service career spanning 41 years, including 37 years in the A.P. Government Health Services and Medical Education sector and over 4 years at NRIIMS. With 32 years of teaching experience and 15 years as Head of the Department, she has made significant contributions to medical education and research. In recognition of her outstanding academic and research excellence, she was honored with the Best Researcher Award by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences on 12th January 2026.

- Research Contributions: Published 163 RESEARCH ARTICLES in leading national and international medical journals, Serving as Reviewer for eleven Journals and being honoured as editorial board member for three Journals.

- 5.Played key role in launching/ leading of SPECIAL PROJECTS like Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit (MRU) sponsored by Union Ministry of Health, (DHR), Labs for Life Project, Thalassemia project for screening children in tribal areas and Women Health – Comprehensive Cervical Cancer Screening and treatment, sponsored by AMCANA (Andhra Medical College Alumni of North America)
