Hypertension is a silent killer that rarely causes symptoms. Increasing public awareness about hypertension is key, along with access to early detection and management.
The theme of World Hypertension Day, 2023 is ‘Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer’. People need to know why raised blood pressure is dangerous, and how to take steps to control it.
Aimed in this direction, Department of Community Medicine, NRIIMS has organised and conducted home based screening activities for hypertension and other Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and households were made aware on preventive and control measures. This activity has built upon the ‘Tackling NCDs’ programme initiated by us on world health day 2023.
Dr. Vani Priyanka from Community Medicine was instrumental in planning and organisation of this systematic screening activities and in making sure such services were delivered at the door steps of the beneficiaries and also in providing an active guidance to the interns.
