THEME - Equalize
This World AIDS Day, 1st December, we urged to address the inequalities which are holding back the progress in ending AIDS, as this inequalities are not inevitable.The “Equalize” slogan is a call to action. So we Dr A. Hariteja and Dr P.S. Madhuri working under Dr K.Vijaya, HOD, department of Community Medicine, NRIIMS took an initiative under adolescent health education strategy of Government of India towards United nations Sustainable development goals and conducted the role play regarding the theme of AIDS Day with the Community medicine interns and field staff of RHTC, Anandhapuram to bring awareness in 145 Intermediate students of Vivekanandha Intermediate college, BP Kollalu street, Anandhapuram, Visakhapatnam.This role play brought awareness regarding importance, causes ,symptoms; availability, quality and suitability of services for HIV treatment, testing and prevention; laws, policies and practices to tackle the stigma and exclusion faced by people living with HIV and marginalized populations, so that everyone is shown respect and is welcomed; and ensured sharing of technology to enable equal access to the best HIV science and high lighted inequalities HIV people face and pressed for the actions needed to address them.
