World Breast Feeding Week 2021

The theme for this year was “Protect Breast feeding - A Shared responsibility”. In accordance with the theme, coordinating with the stakeholders (faculty, PG, nursing college students, AWW & beneficiaries) multiple health education campaigns were planned and executed at Vambhay colony in Madhurawada & Vemulavalasa village in Anandapuram.

This campaign highlighted the importance of breast feeding in the growth & development of new born, along with role of the family members in supporting the breast-feeding mother. Also, both antenatal and postnatal women were educated on the timely initiation of breast feeding, scientific importance of it along with advantages, demonstration of correct feeding position, dietary advices, about infant & young child feeding practices.

A total of 107 beneficiaries have expressed their thankfulness to the institution for organizing such a campaign that not only would have a positive impact on the mother & child health, but also as a whole on the community. Also, postgraduates have reflected on this activity as a way to develop their program management skills, which is a very essential competency.
