National Dengue Day 2023

On 16 May each year, National Dengue Day is observed. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has officially announced the annual observance of National Dengue Day to create awareness and promote measures to prevent the disease. National Dengue Day theme for this year is "Fight Dengue, Save Lives".

Dr. Vani Priyanka, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, NRIIMS has coordinated and guided the community outreach programmes on this day, in which students from MBBS Phase – II & Interns (CRMI) took an active part in.

An house – house awareness campaign was organised in the field practise area of RHTC, NRIIMS along with distribution of educational materials and community engagement to disseminate information about dengue prevention and control. These efforts aim to empower individuals and communities to take proactive measures in combating the disease.

In addition to the house-house campaign, an awareness activity was also conducted at District Hospital, Vizianagaram in which Interns currently in Community Medicine postings, held an health talk for the beneficiaries on prevention & control of vector borne diseases.

Also, reflecting on our training programmes, this provided an wonderful opportunity for the students and Interns to understand & practise the public health principles.
