NBEMS DNB Ophthalmology Practical Examinations Held at NRIIMS
National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) recognised the Department of Ophthalmology, NRI Institute of Medical Sciences (NRIIMS), Visakhapatnam as a centre for conducting the DNB Ophthalmology Final Practical Examination on 13th & 14th of October 2025.
DNB Ophthalmology Practical Examination has four important components – Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), Clinical Case Examination, Ward Rounds, and Viva Voce. We established an OSCE station at the Ophthalmology Department with high-speed internet connectivity and a full HD 65-inch TV monitor for the display of OSCE stations controlled by the Central Command Centre of New Delhi to telecast questionnaires all over the country simultaneously. The Department of Ophthalmology, NRIIMS, successfully conducted the practical examination for DNB students from premier institutes across India. A total of sixteen DNB students appeared for the practical examination.
Dr. B.V.S. Ratna Kumari, Professor and Head, was the Coordinator – Examiner, and Dr. B. Dharma Raju was the Coordinator – Non-Examiner for the above DNB Practical Examination.

The recognition of NRIIMS, Visakhapatnam as a centre for DNB Ophthalmology Practical Examination by NBEMS is a proud moment for the institution and the Ophthalmology Department, as it enhances the quality of postgraduate medical education in the speciality of Ophthalmology. Future DNB examinations at our centre will certainly set very high academic standards among Ophthalmology postgraduate students.
